In 2028, the world is suffering from a terrible war. The Rebellion Army, led by General Donald Modern launches a global attack against the Regular Army and pushes them to near annihilation using their powerful weapons created by advanced technology. Their leader, General Donald modern a.k.a. “Devil Rebirth” is a former Vice Admiral in the Regular Army Marine Corps. He was highly respected by his troops, and was also a caring father to his son. However he loses his wife and son due to the bombing on the Central Park by terrorists in 2023. He realizes that it was caused by an intelligence failure on the part of the Regular Army and goes insane. He decides to take revenge on the Regular Army and then creates the Rebel Army with dissidents of the Regular Army. Their goal was to overthrow the corrupt Regular Army and dominate the world. The Regular Army’s intelligence community warns their high-ranking officials about all sorts of indications that the Rebellion could attack at any moment in decisive force. Unfortunately, they don’t listen, and their army gets demolished along with cities that it was supposed to be protecting. However, this kind of situation did not discouraged band of Regular Army soldiers attempt to salvage whatever they had left. They form a group named “Resistants” of surviving members of the Regular Army and its researchers. They begin to covertly convert the Metal Slug tank prototypes into combat-ready status in a hidden factory, hoping to launch a counter-offensive to regain what they had lost to the Rebellion. However, modern realizes about this almost immediately and attacks the plant, crushing the Resist ants and capturing the tanks, putting an end to the counterattack even before it could begin. The vehicles are then scattered to prevent any Regular Army troops reclaiming them and using them to launch attacks. It looked like their last attempt to retrieve the situation came to nothing. But then, the two heroes, 1st Lieutenant Marco Rossi of the Regular Army Peregrine Falcons Special Forces unit and Second Lieutenant Tarma Roving from the same unit unite remaining Regular Army units and begin a commando operation to reclaim the tanks. Marco is a genius whose hobby is computer science, and Tarma is an elite agent whose the son of a distinguished military man. At the age of 20, he joined the PF Squad and rescued the president. These two were close friends, and when Marco started the mission to recapture the tanks, Tarma joined him. Their first operation area is Villeneuve Mt. System. Villeneuve Mt. System was once a flooded area and this is where one of the Rebel Army’s planes named Tetsuyuki crash-landed. The Tetsuyuki was originally a flying warship named Takatsu Bomber type 770created by the rebels for combat which had nicknames such asImpregn able Castle, Moth of Hell, and Sailor Titan, but now stuck on the ground, fortified and serving as a makeshift base to keep outsiders away. Marco and Tarma’s heroic efforts were beyond expectation. Not just they retrieve the Metal Slug, they manage to defeat Tetsuyuki. Their next destination is Ron bertburg City. Ron berburg is a large city founded by the Rebel Army, and is a strategic location that has multiple arms factories, railroads for transporting supplies, and airfields. The Regular Army receives an intelligence that General modern is going to inspect this place, and also the Regular Army is planning to destroy the Rebel Army’s military supplies facilities. Of course, the Rebel Army had deployed Mini Bata in the city to defend this strategic location in case of an attack, However the Mini Bata isn’t enough to stop Marco and Tarma. The city gets destroyed by the Regular Army’s surprise attackand General modern decides to handle it by him.  He boards a Hairbuster Riberts and battles the Regular Army, but Marco and Tarma are far beyond his expectation. Morden’s Hairbuster Ribert got shot down and he was about to be captured by them. But at that moment, an Eaca-B appears and rescues General Mordenand the Regular Army failes to capture their target. Following the railroad of Ronbertburg, where Marco and his team arrive is the Käthehirt Valley. The Käthehirt Valley is a snow-covered valley where the Rebellion’s motor pool is located. This place is where the infamous Allen O’Neil is defending. Also known as the Iron Cavalryman in Hell, he is an elite soldier and the second in command of the Rebel Army, he singlehandedly slaughters the Regular Army troops. The Rebel Army immediately sends a prototype heavy artillery tank called Tani Oh, but like I said, it is just a prototype, so it gets destroyed easily. After accomplishing the Käthehirt mission, Marco and Tarma walk down along Ridge 256 leading to Gerhardt City. Ridge 256 is well-known by members of the Regular Army as the Death Valley. What they faced at the edge of the valley was a pair of massive tanks named Shoe and Karn. Shoe and Karn’s ambush was quite threatening. However, Marco and his team well utilize Metal Slug and manage to safely escape the valley. They arrive in Gerhardt City and face a great number of Rebellion troops and barricades to stop the Regular Army. And beyond the barricades was the Iron Nokana, a modified giant armored truck that was adapted for combat. The Iron Nokana has rocket launcher turret on the top and a hidden flamethrower on its bottom. This combat vehicle is specialized for defending the path from Regular Army trying to get through, but even the Iron Nokana can’t stop these Peregrine Falcons. And so Marco and Tarma finally reach where their final mission takes place, the Memorial Sea which is the path to enter Morden’s hideout. Marco and Tarma start to cross a huge bridge connected to the land to infiltrate into Morden’s hideout. And when they were halfway there, General Morden suddenly appears and blows up the bridge and the two fall towards the sea. However, Regular Army’s submarine, Middle-Son 1986 arrives just in time and saves them from drowning. The Regular Army sends almost all of their troops including ground, sea and air forces to attack the Rebellion’s base. But their marine infiltration fail due to multiple battleships, aircraft carriers, and sea mines, However, the Middle-Son 1986 which is over 40 years old manage to break through the rebellion fleet, not only saving Marco and Tarma, but safely took them to the island. Thanks to its heroic effort, Marco and Tarma penetrate into Morden’s hide out and face their archenemy, Donald Morden. As the Founder and Supreme Commander of the Rebel Army, Morden definitely wasn’t an easy opponent. He boards a second generation attack helicopter named Hi-Do and attacks them ferociously. But even the Devil Rebirth can’t stand Marco and Tarma’s fierce attacks and falls. With Marco and Tarma’s outstanding performances, Morden finally gets arrested. What is left after the coup ended is only the futility and misery of war. Meanwhile, Morden successfully escapes shortly after being arrested. And picks up a letter from a rebel by chance and immerse in thought.
